My horse is a superstar!

On March 15th, my horse, Grit, and I had a trillium show at the RCRA.
My day started when my alarm went off at 3:03am. To wake up and smell the pancakes my mother had made for me. I ate them and we were off to PAEC to get my horse ready to trailer out for show day! Show day started with trailering out from PAEC to RCRA at 6 am so we could be ready for warm up at 7. The show started at 8:30 am.  Warm up went well and we had about an hour until my classes went.

After an hour of waiting it was finally time to compete. We go in and our first course was amazing. All the strides were there and my horse did awesome. Our second course went pretty well with a few mistakes but still good. And our third course was by far the best course of the day. Everything was perfect. I then had to sit around and wait for 3 hours until my hack class went.

3 hours pass and finally the hack class starts. In the warm  up ring you would have thought we would win the hack, and then we got out there and it was like my horses tail was lit on fire. It was a horrible hack. So i get off my horse after and my mom volunteers to cool him out for me and tells me to go to the show ring for the ribbons and placings. I figured I would place in one of my courses.

First course, we get a third. Second course we get a fourth. and Third course we get a second!  I was so happy i start walking away to find my mom when i hear my coach calling my name. I turn around to see her waving a huge ribbon. I had won Reserve Champion ( second overall out of 30) . I was jumping up and down! We go outside to find my mom and she was crying. I know crying. how embarrassing. She hadn't even heard that I was Reserve. When my coach pulled the ribbon from behind her my mom gave me the biggest hug while crying. She's so cute! haha .

My horse was amazing and looked stunning that day! He loves showing and it was a great start to the show season!

Next Show . April 11th 2009.

My visit to AGO!

My class and I visited the Art Gallery of Ontario on Tuesday Febuary 17th, 2009! Overall it was a great trip and alot of fun! We were first taken on a tour of the art gallery and shown some amazing art work. After lunch we were able to walk around by ourselfs and look at whatever we wanted to. Some of the art work that I saw was truely amazing.

This Photograoh is of the piece of art work called " The Index" By David Altme JD. This is only one piece of the sculptur. This piece of art work was one of the fist things we saw when we got to the art gallery. It is truly amazing. The is a part of it where you walk in and there are mirrors all around you except on top and there is a bird man looking down at you. This piece of art is very creative! The artist who made this, David, is representing Canada at the top art show in the world. The index is actually two seperate sculptures. His work is known as very childlike but it is amazing to look at and is entertaining to walk around and see the different things he has created.

This piece here is call "Untitled" also part of "the red series" by Brabra astman. When I first saw this piece of work i was drawn to it imediately. It drew my attention right away. The colours she used and the way she used them catch my attention and make me really think what this piece is trying to say. My first thought when i saw this was that it was a women doing her daily rutine of watering the flowers, cooking, laundry and so on. With the background all black it makes all the different red objects stand out alot better than they would if it were a differnt colour. And you can also see a bit of expression on her face with her bright red lip sticks. This artwork to me anyway made me think that it was about a women being only seen what she does around the house. It is a very Beautiful piece.

This piece here was one of the coolest that i saw all day! It is called "Socle du Monde" created by Mona Hatoum. It is made up of steel plaes, magnets and iron fillings. When i first saw it it looked like a big box of worms. Even up close it looks so cool. The entire time i was near it i just wanted to reach out and touch it, but of course there were the "please do not touch signs" and Mrs. Gordon already told us that we couldn't because it would fall apart. This box is very detailed and looks like a bunch of swirls going around and around, but when you got close enough you could see the littly Iron filings sticking out, they looked pretty sharp. This must have taken Mona a very long time to make but it is brilliant.

These two pieces were two of the most memorable rooms in the whole art gallery. The room is called "AIDS" General idea. This room is a great message. It is a very colourful room and very in your face, which i think is what the whole purpose of it is. I think that the message here is that AIDS cannont be ignored, this room is in your face because well AIDS is right there in our face, people suffer from it everyday and it can't just be ignored. I loved this room and i remember it very well. It is a great way to display AIDS and i think that if everyone gets the message like i did then our eyes will open to real life problems that may not be in bright colours, but its right in our faces.

As my friends and i were walking through the gallery we wandered to the very back where we noticed a trailer that was so bright and so colourful, that we of course had to go look at it. The Sign by the door of the trailer said it was called "Urban disco trailer." It also said that we were aloud to go in it and play music and watch t.v. So Lizzie, Samantha and I walked up the stairs and into the Trailer. It had a disco player, black and white tv. which was playing Martha Stewart, and a record player where we played all the music that we could recognize. We believe that no one else in our class found it because we did not hear anyone talking about it.

It was a great experience to go to AGO. I had alot of fun and it was very entertainign and enjoyable. All the art work in the Gallery was very enjoyable to look at and see. I think that by having this amazing building , AGO , in Toronto we are able to express our artistic side. People of all ages can enjoy the art work and there are so many different artists and cultures that are in this gallery that anyone can enjoy it. I really enjoyed this trip and learned alot about art from it. I was never really interested in art before but Ms. Gordon showed us a fun way of going with our friends, going on a tour and then being able to enjoy it ourselves. We didn't get out of there till around 3 and it was too short of time but a very enjoyable time!
